Passover will be a little different this year. I guess that is an epic understatement, no? Typically, in the years past, during pre-coronavirus America, us Israelites would congregate. This is in harmony and honor of the Torah commandment in Leviticus 23:4–8.
“These are the designated times of Yahweh, the holy convocations you are to proclaim at their designated times. In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, between sundown and complete darkness, comes Passover for Yahweh. On the fifteenth day of the same month is the festival of The Unleavened Bread; for seven days you are to eat unleavened Bread. On the first day you are to have a holy convocation; don’t do any kind of ordinary work. Bring an offering made by fire to Yahweh for seven days. On the seventh day is a holy convocation; do not do any kind of ordinary work.” Leviticus 23:4–8
However, due to the advent of this novel strain of coronavirus, Passover will have a different dynamic to it this year. A much more intimate dynamic. More private. More personal. As I sit here typing this, I can’t help but think about the parallels that this Passover in 2020 has, with the very first, inaugural Passover my Israelite ancestors observed while in Egypt, the land of slavery. Please see Exodus 12:21–24. Nile River water turning to blood. Frogs. Gnats. Gadflies. Pestilence. Boils. Hail. Locusts. Darkness. Death of the firstborn. Is it a pristine coincidence, that as The Body of Messiah celebrates Passover this week, there is a virulent pestilence? A contagion that started as an epidemic and blossomed into a pandemic, is affecting The States? Affecting the entire world?
It is posited that the 10 plagues that the God of Israel sent, was a judgement upon a specific idol that Egyptians deified and would genuflect, in a deferential manner. Could it be, that one of America’s idols, is the economy? I do not have all of the answers, for I am not Omniscient. Only Yahweh is.
For those who are celebrating Passover, and remembering that Rabbi Yahshua The Messiah, is the Lamb of God, that takes away the sin of the world, I pray. John 1:29, 1st Corinthians 5:7. I pray that you and I, all of us, have a beautifully intimate Passover meal.
“Say, It is the sacrifice of Yahweh’s Passover, because Yahweh passed over the houses of the people of Israel in Egypt, when He killed the Egyptians, but spared our houses. The people of Israel bowed their heads and worshiped.”
May our Loving Heavenly Creator, Yahweh, The God of Abraham, Yitschaq, and Yisrael, allow Covid-19 to pass over us. In Yahshua’s authority. Amen.
